A birthday surprise website.

Turn favourite memories into a birthday page they can open, read and come back to.

for jules, on your birthday

More days like this.

A year of taking the long way home together.

Made by Lena

Happy birthday, Jules.

My favourite part of this year was not the trip we planned for months. It was that walk afterwards, when we missed our stop and decided to keep going. You make a detour feel like the point. Here’s to more late dinners, questionable directions, and ordinary days I’ll be glad we spent together.

Always up for the long way, Lena

Fictional example: Lena’s birthday page for Jules. A cover and a personal letter, both basic moments.

Celebrate the person, not just the date.

This is a birthday gift from one person to another: a small website with a letter, photos and memories. It works for a partner, a best friend or someone in your family, including when you cannot be there in person.

Instead of collecting generic birthday wishes, pick things you genuinely love about them. The missed stop in Lena’s example becomes the story; the birthday is the reason to finally tell it.

Two people cooking together in a small kitchen
“The dinner we still laugh about.”
A couple together in the city at night
“The night we forgot to check the time.”

A simple birthday surprise plan.

  1. Gather a small set of memories

Pick a few photos from different kinds of days: a celebration, an ordinary afternoon, a shared joke. Add dates or short captions while you remember the details. Ask before using a photo they might not want shared.

  2. Write the birthday letter first

Start with a wish for the year ahead, then tell them one thing you admire and one memory you are glad you share. You do not need a paragraph for every year of their life.

  3. Build and check the page

Start free with the Birthday occasion already selected. Edit the suggested moments, upload your photos and preview the page on a phone. Check every placeholder, date and caption.

  4. Choose the moment to send it

Publish when it is ready and send the link yourself on their birthday. You can text it, put it in an email, or open it together on a call. This plan does not depend on scheduled delivery or timed unlocking.

What to put on their page.

A complete surprise does not have to be a long one. This example plan uses six basic moments, below the free limit of eight.

A cover
Their name, a birthday greeting and a favourite photo.
Your letter
What you hope they feel when they open it.
A photo gallery
A few memories with captions that explain why they matter.
A timeline
Two or three days from the past year you would like to revisit.
Reasons you appreciate them
Specific qualities, habits and things they do, rather than a list of compliments.
A final note
A wish for the next year, or an invitation to a birthday plan you have actually made.

A soundtrack, countdown or Open When letters can add another layer, but those are Premium moments. The basic birthday gift does not need them.

Before the birthday.

Can I make the birthday website without coding?

Yes. Use the builder to edit the letter, photos, theme and moments. Preview what they will see before you publish; there is no code to write.

Can friends contribute messages to the same page?

There is no group-contribution workflow. This is a page you create and edit yourself for one person. If you include another person’s words or photo, get their permission first.

Can I prepare it without spoiling the surprise?

Yes. Keep it as a private draft while you work. Once published, anyone with the link can view it, so wait to send the link until you want them to open it. The page does not enforce a birthday opening time.

Will the page work if we are far apart?

The recipient can open the published link in a browser without an account. Send it alongside a voice message or read the letter together on a call if you want to make the handoff more personal.

A personal gift. A clear choice.

Publish up to 8 basic moments free, including a letter, photos and a timeline. A moment is a section of your page; a photo gallery can hold several photos.

Music (Our Song), Open When letters and other Premium moments require a one-time upgrade for that page. You can build and preview them before paying. There is no subscription.

Before you share

Drafts stay private in your account. Once you publish, anyone with the link can view the page. It is not password-protected, so only include things you are comfortable sharing.

New free pages are subject to an inactivity policy, with advance email notice before deletion. Keep your own copies of important photos and writing. Read the retention terms.
